Salt is one of the most important elements of our daily life and the known uses of surpass 14000 !!! Many of these relate to the chemical properties of the components of salt (chlorine and sodium) and on feeding people and animals, and many other everyday issues.
Salt is free in nature, either as a mineral or as the result of the evaporation of seawater. It can reach Earth but from outer space, with meteorites. The fact that salt was detected on Mars makes scientists believe that there may be traces of life.
The 14000 uses of salt already intrra mentioned in the introduction may seem to us a lot. But most of these uses were known to earlier generations. Many of these uses was to help with simple daily chores before the advent of modern cleaning chemicals and preservatives. Many of these uses have in fact passed into disuse, intrra but still practical and very economical.
