Mr. Bates is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bertha Bates of Tullahoma; two sons, Bobby Bates and

During his life, he was an Aeronautical Engineer for A.E.R.O. and worked 14 years on the ASTF project and was project manager of the rebuilding of J5 after its destruction. He also played football for Vanderbilt container specifications in 1943. Mr. Bates was a member of First United Methodist Church, Lakewood Country Club, Noon Rotary, and after retirement he became an Air Force Civil employee.
Mr. Bates is survived by his wife of 30 years, Bertha Bates of Tullahoma; two sons, Bobby Bates and his wife Brenda of Tullahoma, and Mike Bates and his wife Mary Lynn of Atlanta; container specifications two daught! ers, Barbara Bates-Timko and her husband Ron of Hermitage and Patricia Ann Butler and her husband Michael of Franklin; container specifications two step-sons, Roger Morgan of Tullahoma and Jeff Morgan and his wife Vickie also of Tullahoma; 12 grandchildren, Billy Bates III, Allison Bates, Alex Bates, Preston Bates, Carson Dickey, Trevor Dickey, container specifications Emma Butler, Jennifer Black, Courtney Parker, Bailey Morgan, Amanda Monroe, and Catrina Morgan; eight great-grandchildren, Alexis, container specifications Callie, Carrie, Ian, Abigail, Trace, Jaycee, and Levi.
